The next time you try to text your buddies "on the way, c u there" while driving, consider this: Driving while text messaging is more dangerous than drinking and driving or driving under the influence of marijuana.

The Transport Research Laboratory in the U.K. (via The Times Online) found that when subjects were text messaging and driving at the same time, reaction speed was reduced by 35 percent, thereby increasing the likelihood of an incident. Those that were driving and drinking within the legal limit only suffered a 12 percent loss of reaction speed, and those that were driving under the influence of marijuana had their reaction speed reduced by 21 percent, 14 percent lower than while driving and texting.

Another startling statistic: According to the study, those that were texting and driving reduced their steering ability by 91 percent.

The worst part about the whole thing, in my opinion, is the general public's lack of knowledge on just how dangerous it can be. Everyone knows how dangerous it can be to drink and drive, but really, does everyone know that even picking up your cell phone for a quick text reduces your reaction speed by three times?

So, what do you all think? Does driving under the influence of texting your BFF appear to be more dangerous than driving under the influence of alcohol? Do you believe laws should be passed to prohibit this action, like in Washington?

From here, im agree that the text messaging while driving found to be more dangerous than drunk driving. It is increase the rate of accident happened. So that, we adviced to use the hearphone only while driving. And be focus for our driving

Flexible pavement. I have read this article on 22nd September 2008 to get the information about flexible pavement for my English project.

HMA pavements are classified as "flexible" pavements because the total pavement structure deflects, or flexes, under loading. A flexible pavement structure is typically composed of several layers of material. Each layer receives the loads from the above layer, spreads them out, then passes on these loads to the next layer below. Thus, the further down in the pavement structure a particular layer is, the less load (in terms of force per area) it must carry. Other pavements that are surfaced with asphalt materials, such as bituminous surface treatments are also classified as flexible pavements.
In flexible pavements material layers are usually arranged in order of descending load bearing capacity with the highest load bearing capacity material (and most expensive) on the top and the lowest load bearing capacity material (and least expensive) on the bottom. This section describes the typical flexible pavement structure consisting of:
1. Surface course. This is the top layer and the layer that comes in contact with traffic. It may be composed of one or several different HMA sublayers.
2. Base course. This is the layer directly below the surface course and generally consists of aggregate (either stabilized or unstabilized) or HMA.
3. Subbase course. This is the layer (or layers) under the base layer. A subbase is not always needed.
A typical flexible pavement structure consists of the surface course and the underlying base and subbase courses. Each of these layers contributes to structural support and drainage. The surface course (typically an HMA layer) is the stiffest (as measured by resilient modulus) and contributes the most to pavement strength. The underlying layers are less stiff but are still important to pavement strength as well as drainage and frost protection. A typical structural design results in a series of layers that gradually decrease in material quality with depth.
A flexible pavement structure can vary greatly in thickness. The signs on top of the pictured cores indicate the State Route (SR) and the Mile Post (MP) where the core was taken. The scale at the right edge of the photo is in inches.

From this article I’ve learned about the type of the pavement, the materials that will use in every layer and the function for every layer of it. Flexible pavement is important to make the road more comfortable to consumer. Other than that, it also can avoid accident.

Dirtiest among seven nations
By : Marc Lourdes

KUALA LUMPUR: Would you cook in your toilet? If hygiene is your primary concern, you might consider doing so.
A recent seven-country survey conducted by the Hygiene Council, a global panel of medical experts, found that Malaysian kitchens were more bacteria-infested than bathrooms. With dishcloths and kitchen sinks crawling with germs found in faeces, it is not only great food that's being cooked in our kitchens.

Disease and infection are stewing there as well.Overall, Malaysian homes were found to be the dirtiest among all the countries studied, right after India. The cleanest abodes were found in Saudi Arabia.A total of 140 samples were taken from homes of families across the income spectrum in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, India and Malaysia. The results of the survey were based on swabs taken from eight frequently-touched surfaces -- the bathtub, kitchen sink, bathroom and kitchen taps, a plastic toy, fridge handle, dishcloth and kitchen bench.

"This survey is a snapshot of what might be happening here.
"We need to strengthen the hygiene of our population, especially since there is a risk of an influenza pandemic in the future," said Sungai Buloh Hospital Infectious Diseases Department head Dr Christopher Lee.
Hygiene Council consists of experts in microbiology, virology, infectious diseases, immunology and public health. They found almost 70 per cent of Malaysian samples were highly contaminated.

Sixty per cent of plastic toys in Malaysian homes were infested with E. coli, a bacteria commonly found in faeces, and 25 per cent with S. aureus, an organism found on the skin, nose and throat.
This shows that people do not wash their hands, especially after using the toilet.E. coli can cause gastroenteritis, urinary tract infection, and neonatal meningitis, while S. aureus causes skin infections and food poisoning.

Dr Lee, a member of the Hygiene Council, said kitchens showed a higher incidence of contamination because table tops were not properly disinfected and dishcloths, which were used to wipe everything, were not properly cleaned."It's often not visible dirt, but microbes. Hygiene is taught in schools, but is it something we practise?"Dr Lee said simple things could be done to ensure greater hygiene in kitchens.
These include cutting vegetables before meat and disinfecting chopping boards regularly.
Above all, he said, wash your hands every time after using the toilet."We assume people do that. But in our first survey a few years ago, we found that some people did not."

Fridge handles were found to be the cleanest sample in almost every country, followed by plastic toys.Half the bathtubs in Saudi Arabia were found to be uncontaminated.
The Hygiene Council, headed by virology professor Dr John Oxford from St Bartholomew's & The Royal London Hospital, believes such a survey is important because "in 1900, microorganisms were the number one killer of men worldwide".
"In 2006, this remains a significant threat," it said.

from above, we always see that most of people wash their hands after using the toilet, just not with soap. Also, most of the restaurants in Malaysia are not hygienic.i think most of kitchens in Malaysia are not bad compared with those in some developing countries. however, let's do the best in the future..

I lent this book from my friend and i already read it . This book is written by Robert T. Kiyosaki, and Sharon L. Lechter. They write this book just want to help people knowning how to manage they financial ,solve financial problem and also teaching their children.

Robert Kiyosaki teaches people to be millionaires... That's why they call him the millionaire school teacher. "The main reason people struggle financially is because they have spent years in school but learned nothing about money. The result is that people learn to work for moeny...but never learn to have money work for them."-Robert Kiyosaki, Author of Rich Dad Poor DadTM Rich Dad Poor Dad will... * Explode the myth that you need to earn a high income to become rich * Challenge the belief that your house is an asset * Show parents why they can't rely on the school system to teach their kids about money * Define once and for all an asset and a liability * Teach you what to teach your kids about money for their future financial success. "I love my children and want to ensure they get the best education possible! Traditional schooling, while very important, is no longer enough. We all need to understand money and how it works."-Sharon Lechter, Co-Author of Rich Dad Poor DadTM.

Robert Kiyosaki saying right,
Don’t always think I cant affort it, but always think what should I do to affort It.

Family denotes a group of people affiliated by consanguinity, affinity, or co-residence. Although the concept of consanguinity originally referred to relations by "blood," many anthropologists have argued that one must understand the notion of "blood" metaphorically, and that many societies understand 'family' through other concepts rather than through genetic distance.
Many sociologists and anthropologists believe the primary function of the family is to perpetuate society, either biologically, socially, or both. Thus, one's experience of one's family shifts over time. From the perspective of children, the family is a family of orientation: the family serves to locate children socially, and plays a major role in their enculturation and socialization. From the point of view of the parent(s), the family is a family of procreation the goal of which is to produce and enculturation and socializes children.[1] However, producing children is not the only function of the family; in societies with a sexual division of labor, marriage, and the resulting relationship between two people, is necessary for the formation of an economically productive household.
A conjugal family consists of one or more mothers and their children, and/or one or more spouses, usually husbands. The most common form of this family in the western world is regularly referred to as a nuclear family.
A consanguineal family consists of a mother and her children, and other people — usually the family of the mother, like her husband. This kind of family is common where mothers do not have the resources to rear their children on their own, and especially where property is inherited. When important property is owned by men, consanguineal families commonly consist of a husband and wife, their children and other members of the husband's family.
A matrifocal family consists of a mother and her children. Generally, these children are her biological offspring, although adoption of children is a practice in nearly every society. This kind of family is common where women have the resources to rear their children by themselves, or where men are more mobile than women.

From this article, I learn that the family does not mean the member from our blood relation that has been woven in one family but it also can suddenly connect with someone with who are not from our flesh and blood such as a pair of lacking couple child want could be adopted. They commonly adopted from orphanages or social welfare house.

Car and motorcycle theft are categorized under property crimes. Based on statistics from the police, car thefts have been on the increase since the year 2000. Last year alone, 8,544 cars were reported stolen. However, almost half of these cases – 3,569 or 41.8% – were solved.

Meanwhile, there were 47,137 reported cases of motorcycle theft last year but the police solved 45.8% of these.

A person who steals a motor vehicle can be charged under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code, which states that those who commit theft of a motor vehicle or any of its component will be punished with imprisonment from one to seven years or become liable to a fine or both.

No matter where you park your vehicle, there’s always a risk of it getting stolen these days. Vehicles have been stolen from parking lots in hotels, shopping complexes or public car parks. In fact vehicles parked in front of homes have also disappeared!

All we can do is take preventive measures to deter the thieves in their attempt at breaking into our vehicles.

From the above, I think that we need to do something to prevent this cases become infectious. Firstly, we need to make sure all our vehicles are locked n don't park at secluded spots. The policeman need to improve their efficiency and all of us need to cooperate with the policeman to deter the car and motor-cycle theft.

KOTA BARU: Water levels at three main rivers in the state increased slightly yesterday following heavy rain in the interior since early this week.
The levels at Sungai Kelantan (measured at Dabong, Tualang, Kuala Krai and Kusial), Sungai Semerak (Pasir Putih) and Sungai Golok (Rantau Panjang) were above normal levels yesterday.

Kelantan Drainage and Irrigation Department director Anuar Yahya said heavy rain hit a few areas in the five districts in the state since Sunday and were expected to continue for a few more days.

He said despite the heavy rain, none of the low-lying areas was hit by floods so far.

The department would monitor the situation and its staff had been told to be prepared for any eventuality.
Anuar said the department's flood operation room would be opened to assist the public if flooding occurred.

He said villagers who live along Sungai Kelantan and Golok had been advised to make early preparations.

"They must start keeping their valuables and documents in a safe place so they are not be swept away by the floods.

"They must also ensure the safety of their children and constantly keep watch over them."

In my opinion, i think that the department not just monitor and prepare for any eventuality but need to assimilate the experience before and enhance in this year. Before the flood coming, the department can take some actions such as enlarge the drainage, try to clear the rubbish in the rivers and drains and other methods that can help to prevent the serious flood occur.

assalamualaikum
final examination just around the corner.i have read article about preparation before having examination.so,i want share some tips.
1. Start studying at least one week before the final exam. To ace your final exam, you must spend several hours studying, but this doesn’t mean studying all night before the final exam. This never seems to work anyway. But, if you spend an hour each night for a week before the final exam, you’ll slowly take in the information and remember it.

2. Read all of the assignments when they are assigned. Reading ten chapters worth of material the week before the final exam will not work. In order to ace your final exam, you must read the material when your instructor assigns it. When you try to read all that material in one week, before your final exam, it’s simply too much to take in. You must be able to remember this material in order to ace your final exam.

3. Memorize important information. If you pay attention in class, your instructor will, more than likely, mention pieces of information and say that they will be on the final exam. Write these down and memorize them. If you want to ace your final exam, pay attention to any piece of information that seems important. When reading a chapter in your textbook, highlight anything that even sounds like it might be on the text. The final exam will, more than likely, be just like the midterm you took earlier in the semester.
4. Think about the midterm exam. What was the layout of that exam? Most instructors will use the same layout for the final exam. If you know that the test was a fill in the blank type test, you’ll know to memorize important dates, names, and vocabulary words. If the layout is multiple choice you should study important facts.

5. Listen to your instructor. Most instructors will tell you exactly what the final exam will be, if you just listen. Your instructor wants you to ace your final exam and will help you. An instructor may tell you important pieces of information that you should write down, they may tell you the layout of the final exam, and they may even give you a study sheet of the questions that will be asked.

6. Make your own study sheet. After you have written down important facts, names, vocabulary words, pieces of information your instructor gave you, and anything you highlighted in your textbook you should make a study sheet of this material. This will make it much easier for you to study for and ace your final exam.

7. Have someone quiz you. After you have studied, ask a friend or family member to quiz you. As they ask you questions, have them highlight the information you didn’t remember. Then after you have studied some more, they can quiz you on the information you didn’t know or you could quiz yourself.

8. Quiz yourself. This may sound impossible, but it’s not. Take the information you didn’t know and write it down on a piece of paper. For example, if you missed vocabulary words, write down the words and then put the study sheet away. This will allow you to quiz yourself and see if you have memorized the information.

9. Talk with your instructor. If your instructor hasn’t given your class any idea of what will be on the final exam, just ask. Your instructor may be willing to tell you the layout, what to study, etc.

10. Write down dates. Nothing is worse than walking into class and finding out today is the final exam. You may have been studying, but still not completely ready. In order to ace your final exam, you must keep up with when the test will be given. This ensures that you will give yourself enough time to study and ace the final exam.
but the most important is as muslim we must work hard, pray and tawakal to Allah.
best of luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you know Nelson Mandela? His birth name is Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. Was born 18 July 1918.He is a former President of South Africa, the first to be elected in fully representative democratic elections. Before his presidency, Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist and leader of the African National Congress and its armed wing Umkhonto we Sizwe. He spent 27 years in prison, much of it on Robben Island, on convictions for crimes that included sabotage committed while he spearheaded the struggle against apartheid.

Among opponents of apartheid in South Africa and internationally, he became a symbol of freedom and equality, while the apartheid government and nations sympathetic to it condemned him and the ANC as communists and terrorists.

Following his release from prison on 11 February 1990, his switch to a policy of reconciliation and negotiation helped lead the transition to multi-racial democracy in South Africa. Since the end of apartheid, he has been widely praised, even by former opponents.

Mandela has received more than one hundred awards over four decades, most notably the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. He is currently a celebrated elder statesman who continues to voice his opinion on topical issues. In South Africa he is often known as Madiba, an honorary title adopted by elders of Mandela's clan. The title has come to be synonymous with Nelson Mandela.

Mandela has frequently credited Mahatma Gandhi for being a major source of inspiration in his life, both for the philosophy of non-violence and for facing adversity with dignity.

assalamualaikum madam noli.
sorry 2 post this topic..actually i have 2 post this comment in ramadhan.but i forget..,why month of ramadhan..because my topic is baju kurung and others.

in month of ramadhan..i have surve internet to find the article about baju kurung.because i want my mother make me a beautiful baju kurung.

The baju kurung is one of the more popular type of costume compared to the others. It is a form of costume that covers the body and looks presentable.
The baju kurung associates to the more courteous and shy section of the Malay community. Furthermore, it covers the whole body, exposing the face and hands only, which which abides by the Islamic dress code.
Nowadays, the baju kurung can be found in lots of forms. It has evolved with the wearer’s taste and the flow of time.
A few variations of baju kurung include the baju kurung labuh, baju kurung moden, baju kurung cekak musang, baju kurung Kedah etc.
Even though it has changed, its style still stays the same.
The baju kebaya is also one of the favourites among the traditional Malay costumes especially during the 1960s.
Baju kebaya is usually made according to the wearer’s size. A person with a lean body is fit to wear the baju kebaya for public gatherings.
The baju kebaya is worn with the kain songket or batik. The kebaya (the upper part of this dress) which is usually tight-fitting and short, is nowadays worn as a loose-fitting costume and does not usually be the wearer’s size.
The baju kebaya’s design is not so complicated. It only has one colour and doesn’t have as many decorations as baju kurung, that’s why it’s perfect to be worn at all times.
The baju kebarung is the combination of the baju kebaya and the baju kurung.
It is in the form of the baju kebaya and has the size of the baju kurung. That’s why it’s called baju kebarung.
The baju kebarung is not a traditional Malay costume but it is the creation of the modern Malay society. It is still perfect for the women and have the Malay touch instilled in it.
It’s design and colour shows the wearer’s identity. The colours yellow, light blue, red etc. and decorated flowers are favourites. Abstract designs are also favourites because it is unique.

comment:

Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is sometimes called the Lunar New Year, especially by people outside China. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first lunar month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; this day is called Lantern Festival. Chinese New Year's Eve is known as Chúxī (除夕, abbr. for 年除夕 Niánchúxī, Chúxì in Taiwan). It literally means "Year-pass Eve".

Celebrated in areas with large populations of ethnic Chinese, Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbours, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. These include Koreans, Mongolians, Nepalese, Bhutanese, Vietnamese, and formerly the Japanese before 1873. In Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and other countries with significant Chinese populations, Chinese New Year is also celebrated, largely by overseas Chinese, but it is not part of the traditional culture of these countries. In Canada, although Chinese New Year is not an official holiday, many ethnic Chinese hold large celebrations and Canada Post issues New Year's themed stamps in domestic and international rates.

Although the Chinese calendar traditionally did not use continuously numbered years, its years are now often numbered from the reign of Huangdi outside China. But at least three different years numbered 1 are now used by various writers, causing the year beginning in 2008 to be 4706, 4705, or 4645.

COMMENT :
Here i wan to share about chinese's most important celebration that is Chinese lunar new year. Chinese kunar new year is on the first day of the first month according to chinese lunar calendar. When you are trying to quit smoking, you will probably use several different tools to help you. For example, you may want to start using nicotine gum or even hard candies as a diversion for the physical craving for nicotine. Hordes flocking to 'miracle' lamb
Palestinians have been flocking to see a lamb which seems to have a birthmark spelling out the Arabic word for God, "Allah", in its coat. Owner Yahya Atrash, from the West Bank town of Hebron, told Reuters the animal was born on Monday, when militant leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin was killed. He told Reuters the timing was "clear evidence of God's existence". Sheikh Yassin, spiritual leader of the Hamas militant group, was killed in an Israeli missile strike. Israel says he was involved in planning suicide attacks. "This sheep was born in memory of the martyrdom of the great hero Sheikh Ahmed Yassin," the farmer said. "We hope that the birth of this sheep is a lesson for the living in the same way... the martyrdom is a lesson for us here in Palestine. "Many Palestinians traveled through several Israeli army checkpoints to view the lamb, who some claim also has "Muhammad" written on his other flank, after the Prophet.

Deepavali, or Divali is a major Indian festival, and a significant festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. [3] Many legends are associated with Diwali. Today it is celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs across the globe as the "Festival of Lights," where the lights or lamps signify victory of good over the evil within every human being. The festival is also celebrated by Buddhists of Nepal, particularly the Newar Buddhists.

In many parts of India, it is the homecoming of King Rama of Ayodhya after a 14-year exile in the forest.[4] The people of Ayodhya (the capital of his kingdom) welcomed Rama by lighting rows (avali) of lamps (deepa), thus its name, Deepavali. This word, in due course, became Diwali in Hindi. But, in South Indian languages, the word did not undergo any change, and hence the festival is called Deepavali in southern India. Southern India marks it as the day Lord Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura.

Diwali is celebrated on the first day of the lunar Kartika month, which comes in the month of October or November.

In Jainism it marks the nirvana of Lord Mahavira, which occurred on October 15, 527 BCE. The Sikhs celebrate Diwali for a different reason; on this day, the Sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Ji, was freed from imprisonment along with 52 Hindu Kings (political prisoners) whom he had arranged to be released as well. After his release he went to Darbar Sahib (golden temple) in the holy city of Amritsar. There, he was greeted by Sikhs and many other people. In happiness they lit candles and diyas to greet the Guru. In India, Diwali is now considered to be a national festival, and the aesthetic aspect of the festival is enjoyed by most Indians regardless of faith.

COMMENT :
Unlike Hari Raya and chinese Lunar New Year, Deepavali is on every years 15th october. Deepavali, which is also called Divali brings the meaning festival of lights. Some says that Deepavali is celebrate in memory of the homecoming of King Rama after 14 years in forest. King Rama is welcomed by lighting rows of lamps, hence this festival is then named deepavali. An interesting festival which i also wish to take part in it someday.

For more details, I've read this article from the website below

The imprtant role of human integrity in society:

Integrity is one of the human qualities, which has helped us rise above anarchy. Integrity is the ability to do what is right even if it is at your own expense. Integrity also has other meanings such as following through in actions with what you say in words. Such follow up with action gives your words integrity.

The sad thing is that politicians today are lacking integrity. They promise to do things during the elections but then once elected they rarely carry through with those promises. People have been jaded by the empty promises made to them by politicians..it's only example...

Disadvantages of Smoking

i read this article from http://www.knowledgebase-script.com/demo/article-222.html.
The ingredients of tobacco smoke are chemically active. They can start dramatic and fatal changes in the
body. There are over 4,000 chemicals, which can be damaging to the smoker's body. They include tar,
carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen cyanide, metals, ammonia, and radioactive compounds.
Scientists and doctors know so much more about the effects of smoking today than ever before. They know
smoking causes immediate effects on the smoker's body. It constricts the airways of the lungs. It increases
the smoker's heart rate. It elevates the smoker's blood pressure. The carbon monoxide in tobacco smoke
deprives the tissues of the smoker's body of much-needed oxygen. All of these are dangerous short-term
effects.
There are more serious long-term effects as well. Smoked tobacco in the forms of cigarettes, pipes, and
cigars causes lung cancers, emphysema, and other respiratory diseases. In fact, smoking causes ninety
percent of all lung cancer cases. Twenty percent of heavy smokers get the chronic lung disease called
emphysema, which causes the narrowing, and clogging of the airway passages in the lungs. This disease is
seldom seen in nonsmokers. Smokers are also at least four times more likely to develop oral and laryngeal
cancer than nonsmokers.
Smoking contributes to heart disease. It increases the risk of stroke by nearly 40% among men and 60%
among women. Smoking is an addiction. Tobacco smoke contains nicotine, a drug that is addictive and can
make it very hard, but not impossible, to quit. More than 400,000 deaths in the U.S. each year are from
smoking-related illnesses. Smoking greatly increases your risks for lung cancer and many other cancers.
Smoking harms not just the smoker, but also family members, coworkers and others who breathe the
smoker's cigarette smoke, called secondhand smoke.
Among infants to 18 months of age, secondhand smoke is associated with as many as 300,000 cases of
bronchitis and pneumonia each year. Secondhand smoke from a parent's cigarette increases a child's
chances for middle ear problems, causes coughing and wheezing, and worsens asthma conditions.
Page 1/2
PDF generated by PHPKB Knowledge Base Script
If both parents smoke, a teenager is more than twice as likely to smoke as a young person whose parents
are both non-smokers. In households where only one parent smokes, young people are also more likely to
start smoking.
Pregnant women who smoke are more likely to deliver babies whose weights are too low for the baby's good
health. If all women quit smoking during pregnancy, about 4,000 new babies would not die each year.

Firecrackers no match for ATM, robbers flee without cash
Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, Mon:
Two men, using firecrackers, tried to blow up an automated teller machine (ATM) at the CIMB Bank branch in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, early today.
The incompetent robbers only managed to inflict minimal damage to the exterior of the ATM.

A footage from a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed outside the bank showed the robber, who were wearing full-faced helmets, fleeing from the premises at 5.45am empty-handed.

Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the robbers entered the bank with the intention of blowing up an ATM with firecrackers.

While the duo managed to damage two CCTVs at the bank, they failed to blow up the ATM, he said.
He said that about 7am, policemen in a patrol car spotted smoke billowing from the bank and went to investigate.

Khalid urged those with information on the incident to contact Rakan Cop at 03-21159999 or the nearest police station to facilitate investigations. — BERNAMA

This news is about the two robbers who tried to blow up an ATM using firecrackers but thet were failed. i think they are not professional robbers who already knows how is the best way to rob an ATM or other location. as a concern citizens, we should be alert and immediately report to the police when we saw or herad something weird around us.

Teens & smoking

Some facts on teen smoking:
-> Each day, between 82,000 and 99,000 young people around the world start smoking.
-> Smoking rates for youth climbed in the early 1990s, but have been slowly declining.
-> Almost 20 per cent of Canadian teens (aged 12-19) currently smoke (daily or occasionally).
-> In Canada, the smoking rates are generally higher among males than females.
-> On average, males smoke more cigarettes a day than females.
-> Youth smokers make more attempts to quit smoking than adult smokers.

Why do teens start smoking?
Teens give many reasons for why they start smoking:
=> "My friends smoke."
=> "I just wanted to try it."
=> "I thought it was cool."
=> "My parents smoke."
One of the biggest reasons teens start to smoke is peer influence. Teenagers are more prone to peer pressure. Over 70 per cent of teens say that having friends who smoke and/or peer pressure is the number one reason for starting to smoke. Another main reason that youth smoke is that adults do.

Nowadays, smoking is one of people's habitthat is very hard to stop once you get involved. this article is to let we know how smoking hurts our lungs. smoking can damage our lungs natural cleaning, the alveoli and making us hard to breathe. it will puts us at high risk for dozens of other serious disease especially lungs' cancer. so for those who have been smoking for many years, it's never too late too quit. by stopping now, you can reduce your risk of cancer, lung and heart disease.

IN August 1997, the Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) exposed the hazards behind the sales of Alcopops, a trendy intoxicating beverage targeting the youth market. After all this time, similar beverages, designed and packaged like soft drinks, are once again readily available in the market.
Earlier this year, we supplied the relevant agency with information on the sale of these drinks and handed over several of these drink samples to both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, hoping for action to be taken.

Just a few days ago, we found exactly the same drinks being sold at a leading supermarket in Selangor. The drinks were placed in the general section, (not in the dedicated alcoholic drinks section) and only the words tidak halal were pasted on the shelves to warn customers. Even then, price stickers were found pasted over these tidak halal warnings, partially or almost completely hiding them.

The law clearly states that the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons below the age of 18 is prohibited. Unfortunately, these drinks are openly accessible to anyone who wishes to purchase them, including youngsters.

These beverages are presented with colourful labels, for example bright pink or orange, making them very attractive. Some of these drinks have an alcohol content as high as 5.5 per cent. This percentage is higher than the alcohol content in beer but it is still sold to children freely.
CAP's surveys have shown that there is a good chance the public may consume these drinks without knowing that they contain a high level of alcohol. This is due to the misleading labels which give the impression that these drinks are harmless.

We noted one brightly orange-coloured label which highlights that the drink contains Vitamin C. The alcohol content is often printed in small lettering that can hardly be noticed or often placed at the back of the bottle label.

Consumers can easily be misled and assume that they are buying a mere fruit drink or a soft drink.

The relevant agencies should quickly initiate measures that will see an immediate ban on the sale of alcoholic soft drinks. These drinks pose a serious danger to youngsters.

The article above give a new information to me about the irresponsible person. It was about the hazard of alcoholic drink that is already ban from being market. The consumers already make a report about the ban drink but there is no action are taken. After a few days, the consumers found that the same drink are being market again but it was placed at the general place. The drink actually have to be placed at the dedicated alcoholic drink section. This carelessness might give the opportunity to those youngster to buy the drink easily. We already knew that the selling of alcoholic drink to person below 18 are prohibited. As the conclusion, the irresponsibility of the certain people will give bad impact to our new generation in future if serious action are not taken immediately.-liyana-

All of us know what it is to feel stressed at one time or another. In fact, according to the American Psychological Association, 43 percent of all adults suffer adverse health effects from stress. Furthermore, 75 to 90 percent of visits to a doctor are for stress-related complaints. Stress takes a toll on our lives, our jobs, our health, and our relationships.

The symptoms of stress vary from individual to individual. People suffering from stress may lose their appetite, experience disrupted sleep, or have such physical symptoms as an upset stomach, excessive sweating, diarrhea, heart palpitations, or lowered energy. Psychological symptoms might include feeling anxious, depressed or worried.

Stress puts us in a position of being responsible to accomplish more than we're able to. When we feel stressed we're unable to do the things which give us pleasure because we're too busy dealing with all we are faced with. Stress may also affect relationships with others who may assume that the person under stress is angry with them.

What causes stress differs from person to person. Each of us has different weaknesses or vulnerabilities and differing comfort levels. One person might look forward to Thanksgiving with anticipation as one of the few times the family gets together. Another might dread the holiday because the holiday brings back unpleasant memories. For that individual, Thanksgiving becomes a cause of stress. Some of us thrive on busy schedules, moving easily from one demanding activity to another. Such an individual's stress level may be much higher than that of the person who can comfortably handle just one decision or activity at a time.

There is also often a difference in handling short-term stress in contrast to anticipating long-term or prolonged stress. We can be pretty sure that short-term stress is going to end soon. Experienced teachers, for example, know that the first week or two of school is particularly stressful and manage to cope with the difficulties of crying children, missing books, and room changes with equanimity because they've learned things will eventually settle down. But a teacher given an auditorium used by other groups throughout the day for a classroom, may feel overwhelmed because there is no relief in sight.

Relaxation exercises, visual imagery, deep breathing, and biofeedback are techniques which can be utilized to reduce stress. It also helps to prioritize responsibilities and avoid taking on more than one can handle comfortably. Although stress may be an inevitable part of life, handling it appropriately can reduce its impact on our lives.

As for me,this article is really useful for us as a student. This is because as a student we usually get stress easily. Therefore, this article can help bit for those who are under a stress as there are a few step on how to cop with the stress.

The article above give an important message to people especially to students. This article actually give some technique on how to prevent from becoming stress.People who suffering from stress may lose their appetite, experience disrupted sleep and it will effects our daily life routine.Stress will attack to all of the people who are not wisely handle all of the problem they are faced to.Different person have different ways to handle their stress. As a student,I also facing the same problem too but I have to handle my stress wisely so that it will not effect my study. As the conclusion, stress should be handle as soon as possible before it might effect us more seriously.Thank you.-liyana

A computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a list of instructions.

The first devices that resemble modern computers date to the mid-20th century (1940–1945), although the computer concept and various machines similar to computers existed earlier. Early electronic computers were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers(PC). Modern computers are based on tiny integrated circuits and are millions to billions of times more capable while occupying a fraction of the space. Today, simple computers may be made small enough to fit into a wristwatch and be powered from a watch battery. Personal computers, in various forms, are icons of the Information Age and are what most people think of as "a computer"; however, the most common form of computer in use today is the embedded computer. Embedded computers are small, simple devices that are used to control other devices — for example, they may be found in machines ranging from fighter aircraft to industrial robots, digital cameras, and children's toys.

The ability to store and execute lists of instructions called programs makes computers extremely versatile and distinguishes them from calculators. The Church–Turing thesis is a mathematical statement of this versatility: any computer with a certain minimum capability is, in principle, capable of performing the same tasks that any other computer can perform. Therefore, computers with capability and complexity ranging from that of a personal digital assistant to a supercomputer are all able to perform the same computational tasks given enough time and storage capacity.

------------------------------------

actually i like to think about computer nowadays. maybe because I've got problem with my computer. actually I'm totally hope i can buy a new computer. just try to think the word without computer and the other electronic tools. it was totally hard and maybe wasn't have this comment and this bloggers yet. think deeply, computer was help people in modern era a lot starring from a little thing such calculation in calculator to make a big things such as design the mega structure. actually we must thanks to the inventor that got the idea to build this complex things.

Hye, and hello everyone. I would like to give a comment regarding the issue of wrong believers in sense of religion. What really happen is that a husband and wife has this believe which is, if they want to stop from smoking the they have to be beaten until they knock out. All this is only based on dreaming. But unfortunately the couple died been beaten by the family members. In this modern days, this shouldn't be happening. I'm not saying that this kind of believers is wrong but there are also limit for it. Although every people have their believes. For me this is seriously bad because for my religion which is Islam, we should not believe such thing. Dream is only a game of Satan. Plus Islam never thought about violence. It is wrong and this kind of believers have to take serious action for the sake of our religion and people.

News stated that a student which is a girl kicked a teacher in class.
This is a really bad habit of teenagers nowadays. In my point of view, this kind of student should be given a lesson such as arrest her and put her into jail just for a while. Because sometimes this kind of punishment really help. Next parents should take action by guiding theirs children to respect the elders. This is even our culture which is respect each other. This is crucial to keep the harmony and the culture for the next generation.

The Elephant Man
When I went back to my house a few days ago, I’ve found an old story book. It was my older sister’s when she was in secondary school. It was ‘The Elephant Man’.
The story is about a man who’s born with a hideous looking face (actually was a deformity). He was mistreated while scraping a living as a side-show freak. Most of the people were horrified just by looking at his face. He never sleeps like a normal person. He sleeps sitting with his head resting upon his knees, as the weight of his skull would cause a fatal constriction of his windpipe. A doctor, if I’m not mistaken, saw him and took a good care of him, treated him like a human being and not an animal. A few things happen, The doctor discover a person of intelligence and sensitivity in the 'elephant man'. For once, he wanted to be like the rest of us… he slept like the rest of us, lie on our bed. The weight of his skull was too much. He broke his neck and died. That's how the story end.

That day, i browse trough the internet to find some interesting articles and I finally succeeded in doing that. This article is about a women named Pauline Musters a.k.a The Little Princess.

In the history of the world, little Pauline Musters is the smallest mature woman ever recorded. Pauline is currently listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having stood only 1 foot 11.2 inches in height.

Born on February 26, 1876 in Ossendrecht in the Netherlands and Pauline Musters succumbed to illness on March 1, 1895 in New York and the world lost its smallest but greatest miracle.

Hye everyone..

Last month, I went to Kuantan with my friends. In the shopping complex, we went into a book shop to look for some interesting books or magazines. Fortunately, I found a book in the section of novel. It is a quite long time for me to search for this book. This is because this book is not produced anymore. So, I felt so happy and bought it with expensive price.

After I went back to UMP, I started to read this book. The title of this book is 'the legend of detective Sherlock Holmes’. This book has many chapters and pages, so need much time to finish it. This book describes the weird and hard cases are solved by the famous detective. There are almost one hundred is written inside the book. This detective is very clever and good in searching the clues by watching the crime scenes. All cases which cannot be solved by the policemen although they use a lot of energy and time are solved with him easily day in one day.

The most interesting case in this book is 'The love in a beautiful place'. One day, the policeman tells him a case on the midnight. The rich people named George were killed in a abandoned house, but they did not have any clues about the murderer. After the detective heard the case, he felt interesting and then decided to go the house. When he arrived there, he started to observe any tracks outside and inside the house. Then, he asked the first person who found George in this house. According to the data given by the person, he saw the light in this house opened. Therefore, he felt weird and went into the house to find out what happen. Next, he saw George died in the corner of house with some blood in the floor and wall.

After all data that he gathers, he suddenly says the murderer is a red face guy. He tells the police about his job, height and what happened here. The policeman felt impressed and ask why he know all about this. He did not say anything and went back to his home. Next morning, he sends the message to a village and he knows who the murderer is and where the murder wants to go after the case.

Shortly, he has an idea to trap the murder because he knows this murderer is strong in stamina and very clever. Finally, the policeman caught the murderer named James in the third days.
James felt impressed of the detective and told everything about the case. James is a poor and handsome in a beautiful village and lives with family happily. He and a girl love each other and want to marry in a short period of time. But, the bad things always happen before the good things. George is the son of the leader of village. He is so proud and always bullies people. The girl's beauty attracted George. As a result, George used the power to get marry with her. Although James n that girl try to escape, but they failed and James was hit by George. James cannot stay at the village any more.

After few weeks, George married the girl. James tried to get the girl back. After few months, the girl was tortured by George until died. James felt so angry and want to revenge. He thinks many methods to kill George but all efforts failed. James followed from the Asia to London for twenty years. He always sleeps outside and in the jungle, so he fell sick serious and die soon. Therefore, his face became red and blood always out of his nose. When at that day, he saw George drunk at the street; he knew this is last chance to kill George before he dies. Then, he explain how to kill George same like the explanation of the detective.

Finally, he gave a smile to the detective and told him that he does not care of his life. Now he feels very satisfied. The police man put him onto jail after he said those words. Few days later, he died in the jail because the disease. I really lucky to buy such an interesting book although its quite expensive. In conclusion, I hope you all can read about this book if you get a chance.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080825/ap_on_re_us/gun_toting_teachers

Please do click on the link and read the article. It's shocking!

I think i won't agree to let my children to be taught by a teacher who's keeping a gun! It's a horrible feeling to be in a same room with someone carrying a gun.

Maybe in the western country, it's really necessary for teachers or lecturers to carry a gun, for self-protection. But, in our country, i don't think it would be necessary for the educators to carry a gun. Moreover, we don't have the freedom to own or buy a gun as we like.

Other than that, I'm a anti-violence person. I don't think we can solve a problem by using violence. It would only bring harm to everyone, or even took someone's life, but the problem is still remain unsolved.

So, if one day, a really poor student just couldn't understand what the teacher were teaching, and the teacher were already fed up with the student and lost his/her patience, he/she'll just take the gun out, aim towards the student and pull the trigger...... Yeah, that's when disaster happened.

That's all from me. Hope to hear your opinion bout this article soon.

Access to the article on to this website :

http://www.thedailygreen.com/environmental-news/latest/global-warming-47082511

It's Real. It's a Problem. So What Should We Do About It? what am I talking about? Well I am trying to bring to your attention on "GLOBAL WARMING".

Global warming is not something new. But then, this simple term of "global warming" is taken rather lightly among the people nowdays. It's very sad though to come to think about it. Simple statement, when the emission of carbon monoxide along with other toxic gas increases, the thinner the ozone layer gets. And if this happens, our earth is going to increase in heat. This is not good!If heat increases, forest fire, acid rain causing corrosion to building, along with greenhouse effect and etc will occur and certainly our earth is at a state of danger. AND WE ARE LIVING IN IT? EVER THOUGHT OF IT THAT WAY? Ok lets say if your house is on fire, there is a chance to run out. But if our earth is on fire, where would you escape? Out of space? I don't think so.

In the article, it's mentioned that "decisions made by the next president will be critically important, since industrialized nations will have to make steeper cuts to meet the goal". This statement was brought out because, countries especially the U.S is sadi to be the worlds top carbon polluter. Ok, the majority is just looking at it in the point of a countries responsibility but least has anyone thought about our responsibility as an individual. It's our World that we are living in. Don't you feel the need to take good care of the place they are living in? Therefore, after reading this article, I feel there is a need for me to remind Let us be in "One Family, One World" to save Earth from Global Warming. Thank you!

How much do you think you love books??
Or maybe how much you hate books??

I have read one article about this Indonesian woman, Kiswanti who loves book very much and have strong determination to make others love it too. Kiswanti use to cycle daily from her home in Bogor, Jakarta to neighbouring homes tens of kilometers away to offer her books free to anyone who wants to read them. Her love with books began since she was a child. Shame by her schoolmates because she came from a poor family, Kiswanti spent most of her time in library. She said..."reading the books allowed me to be anywhere in the world I wanted to be". Kiswanti initially did her daily book runs around village on foot."For the women who don't like to read, I first offer them cookbooks and most of the children love to read comics and bedtime stories. She did her best to make the people out there to realize the important of reading and general knowledge. She said..."if you don't have enough money to pay the school bills, and then read. It makes you smart and opens your eyes.

“CHICAGO, Ill. -- The body of a 7-year-old boy found in an SUV on the South Side of Chicago Monday morning has been identified as Julian King - the nephew of Jennifer Hudson and son of her sister, Julia, Chicago police officials announced on Monday afternoon.
Access Hollywood's Tony Potts, who is on the scene in Chicago, reported it was Jennifer who identified the boy's body.”

I read about Jennifer Hudson was died in their home about 3 years ago. Her younger brother and mother was died in that murder. Maybe because of the other people not satisfied with one of them or get misunderstand . But at that time, Jennifer nephew was lost until this news told that the body was found around there. We can see how important about family safety and if this thing happened, we can’t do anything at all.

Saffron's aroma is often described by connoisseurs as reminiscent of metallic honey with grassy or hay-like notes, while its taste has also been noted as hay-like and somewhat bitter. Saffron also contributes a luminous yellow-orange colouring to foods. Saffron is widely used in Iranian (Persian), Arab, Central Asian, European, Indian,Turkish, Moroccan and Cornish cuisines. Confectionaries and liquors also often include saffron. Common saffron substitutes include safflower (Carthamus tinctorius, which is often sold as "Portuguese saffron" or "assafroa") and turmeric (Curcuma longa). Medicinally, saffron has a long history as part of traditional healing; modern medicine has also discovered saffron as having anticarcinogenic (cancer-suppressing),[17] anti-mutagenic (mutation-preventing), immunomodulating, and antioxidant-like properties.[57][17][58] Saffron has also been used as a fabric dye, particularly in China and India, and in perfumery.

World saffron cultivation patterns

Most saffron is grown in a belt of land ranging from the Mediterranean in the west to Kashmir in the east. Annually, around 300 tonnes of saffron are produced worldwide.[5] Iran ranks first in the world production of saffron, with more than 94 percent of the world yield.[59] Iran's annual saffron production is expected to hit 300 tons by the end of the nation's Fourth Five-Year Socioeconomic Development Plan in 2009. Other minor producers of saffron are Spain, India, Greece, Azerbaijan, Morocco, and Italy. A pound of dry saffron (0.45 kg) requires 50,000–75,000 flowers, the equivalent of a football field's area of cultivation.[60][61] Some forty hours of labour are needed to pick 150,000 flowers.[62] Upon extraction, stigmas are dried quickly and (preferably) sealed in airtight containers.[63] Saffron prices at wholesale and retail rates range from US$500/pound to US$5,000/pound (US$1100–US$11,000 per kilogram)—equivalent to £250/€350 per pound or £5,500/€7,500 per kilo. In Western countries, the average retail price is $1,000/£500/€700 per pound (US$2200/£1100/€1550 per kilogram).[2] A pound comprises between 70,000 and 200,000 threads. Vivid crimson colouring, slight moistness, elasticity, recent harvest date, and lack of broken-off thread debris are all traits of fresh saffron.

After i read this article..
It is new for me. Before this i don't now about saffron.
its is interesting. But in malay food its is very rare to use this saffron.
i hope i can taste it one day..

Hello people,
I believe this is absolutely an awesome article that I should share with!

Its entitled 'effective ways to speed up metabolism'.

Aerobic exercise - At least 30 minutes a day is needed. This will increase your metabolism for 4 to 8 hours after you stop exercising so you will be burning calories long after you stop exercising.

Weight training - Muscle burns 73 more calories per kilogram of fat per day than does fat. So the more muscle you have, the higher your resting metabolic rate will be. The more muscle the better because it burns calories 24 hours per day. This is the only way to increase your resting metabolic rate, which is responsible for 60 to 70 percent of the calories you burn each day.

Drink lots of water - Lack of water will have a similar effect as lack of food. It will result in the body holding on again and restrict proper metabolism. By drinking enough water the liver will be able to work on metabolism rather than water retention.

A Healthy Diet - There is no concrete evidence that any food will increase metabolism significantly enough to effect weight loss. However, a healthy diet(this means avoiding junk food) when combined with the proper exercise training program will eventually turn a fat body into a lean, muscular body, increasing the burning of calories 24 hours a day.

Eat small meals more frequently throughout the day - Eating smaller meals more frequently will avoid starving the body for calories which will prevent it from holding on to calories and storing them as fat.

These are my comments regarding this article that I have read through.

Having a magnificent metabolism is undeniably crucial for our body to be in a healthy state. It is because the food that we take should be burned accordingly and in my opinion, awesome metabolism will keep our body in the right shape and weight.

Like me, I try to drink a lot of plain water everyday to ensure that I wont be dehydrated. I also try my very best to eat in moderation and eat according to the food pyramid portions. Because I believe that, if I own a healthy body, I would lead a happy life and I can lead my life as a bright student too, which is beneficial for my future.

Another thing, I actually hoping that I would have the chance to access to an exclusive gym (laugh out loud). I love sports but it's just that I didn't have the chance to do it yet due to some minor obstacles. I love swimming all by myself, jog, play netball, and squash with a partner.
Life is beautiful with sports!

This is an article about how to know if your child is gifted.
The comment would be at the bottom as usual.

Is My Child Gifted?
Here is the short list from the U.S. Office of Gifted and Talented. These are the folks who administer the public school gifted and talented programs. A typical gifted preschooler (age 2-5) will exhibit the following:

•Uses advanced vocabulary for age.
•Uses spontaneous verbal elaboration with new experiences.
•Has the ability to make interesting or unusual shapes or patterns through various media: blocks, playdough, crayons.
•Ability to assemble puzzles designed for older children.
•Sense of humor used in general conversation.
•Understanding of abstract concepts such as death and time.
•Mastery of new skills with little repetition.
•Demonstration of advanced physical skills.
•Demonstration of advanced reasoning skills through explanation of occurrences.

Hi there madame,
I am amazed by gifted people. They are rare and exotic to me. I have some friends who I met while I was in school who I think they are gifted, I mean brainy. I am astonished by the fact that they don't have to work extra hard like us the normal people to get good grades or to understand certain things. They memorise facts like a personal computer would do. To me, a gifted person is actually a gift from God. In the same time, I wish I would have gifted children soon!

PUTRAJAYA: Cigarette manufacturers have been given until June next year to print graphic warnings on their product packaging.

If they fail to do so, they risk having to take their products off the market. They will also face a RM10,000 fine or two years' jail, or both.

Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said the authorities were forced to implement the tough measures as they were unhappy with the results of 10 years of anti-smoking campaigns.

The campaigns have seen a mere two per cent drop in the number of smokers.

"However, the number of smokers would probably have escalated if not for the government's intervention," he said at his ministry.

The warnings on the cigarette boxes will comprise pictures of neck, mouth and lung cancers as well as gangrene, miscarriages and premature birth.

Manufacturers would be required to print all the six sets of warnings alternately.

They will also be required to stop labelling cigarettes as "low-tar", "light", "ultra-light" and "mild" which the ministry said was misleading.

Liow said smokers would also be made aware of the 4,000 kinds of "poison" contained in cigarettes.

This information, along with the manufacturer's name and manufacturing date, would be printed on each box.

He said all National Service training centres had also been gazetted as no-smoking zones with immediate effect.

With this, there are now 20 no-smoking zones, including government premises, schools, higher learning institutions, Internet cafes and shopping complexes.

Smokers were also not allowed to light up at open air areas in the vicinity of shopping complexes, including in alfresco dining areas.

Liow warned that those who smoked in the prohibited zones could be jailed for two years or fined up to RM10,000 or both.

Liow said that by year end, all cigarette packs containing 20 sticks must be sold at a minimum price of RM6.

When this ruling is gazetted, those caught selling cigarettes below the minimum price will face a RM10,000 fine or two years' jail or both.

hi every body.ok for this news is about a way to reduce the number of smokers after many campaign which the government had launch such as 'TAK NAK MEROKOK' and so on.in my opinion i think this campaign also cannot give the motivation or warning to smokers.this is because the smokers not care about the print graphic.but there only care about their like.for example eventhough the government had rise the price of cigarette, but many people still buy and not care about the the price.in certain case the sacrifice their food and not eat because to buy the cigarette.for me to reduce this smokers,it all about themslves.evebthough the government had done may way but to stop smoke it all about ourselves.so lastly, I sdvice to all of you who smokers.please stop because it waste our money and also will disturb our health.and fo those who want to try cigarette, i advice to you do not try because when you try you will be the smokers forever and hard to stop...

thank you...
