With the statement "beauty is pain".. why?this is a sin???.. no matter what happen just proud to be yourself. we were born totally perfect. no more extra beauty. sometime with make up or what ever not maybe we can't show to the public that we are really beauty. But with good attitude that come from our soul maybe we look more beautiful from the other`s.
corset and foot binding?.. now both of them were not popular as we can see today?. why?. we will got pain but it not sure we will look beauty after this.
be yourself and make a proud to our original body.....you are the smart.....
with the notion'beauty is pain' I very disagree because for to beauty,have many ways for beauty other then that. for beauty you can eat "ulam-ulam",do excercise and etc. When u use the corset or foot binding u can get many problem for ur body,because ur body can not received more tension and when u getting old u can sick ur body. So for beauty,u have many way for use. thankfull what ur have...
I do agree with the notion 'Beauty Is pain'based on those two articles I have read. It is not enough for someone to face all the difficulties just for the ultimate desire that is beauty. Corset and foot binding have many bad effect that I think will disturbing our life. For the examples, one of the effect of corset is who are wearing it difficult to breath and one of the effect of foot binding is who are wearing it will lost balance and stability. Beside that, it will take long time to become beauty. It need sacrife from the wearer along the process to become beauty. If someone offer to wear corset or foot binding, i will reject the offer because i do not want my life in difficult situation.
The conclusion, we must thankful to Allah what already given for us..... smile alwayzzz...papai..

ermmm...'beauty is pain' i'm not agree because it depend on the individual prospective right. for me your life if your right and have your own ruled so no matter what you do it depent on yourself, so others cannot judge us from their side and prospective , life is about make a choice in our life and to ourself so it up to the individual if he/she rather pain to look beautiful in her/him prospective or just accept what he/she already have.so keep it up and do what you want to do 'your life is your ruled'......
Beauty is pain?...I strongly disagree with this notion.For me both corset and foot binding will produce a handicapped person in which the will suffer from many deformation.There are great deals of other ways to be beautiful that can be practised such as enough sleep,eating tomatoes and also using fair&lovely.So,don't be so desperate to damage our body just to be alien-look human.Beauty comes from the inside.Be nice with others,then they will notice that you are beautiful.Eat more local fruits like papayas,pineapples and durians to be beautiful.Support our local fruits!!!

i agree with the statement. those methods 'force' the body to be in that shape. dont they think what the effect when they grow older? the physical beauty is not permanent. i mean, it will disappear in old age. the internal beauty will last. my opinion, it is not worth to harm our health for beauty. furthermore, natural beauty is important too. lastly, think about the future before invole in those things..
p/s: like to watch keira knightley in corset, the pirate movie..hehehe..
my personal view regarding 'beauty is pain' is true So I agree....cause anything in this world doesn't come easy...so do the beauty...
if the a person is willing to make ownself pain then it's up to them...but about the foot binding, that is a bit cruel to me....and it's no fair to the girls/women.

i'm totally disagree with notion 'beauty is pain'.for me,i prefer with original beauty.is it ok without any make up.how come we got pain just for a beauty?..people use corset,foot binding and also doing plastic surgery to get a perfect look.but only unconfident people will doing that.they doesnt confident enough and also unthankful to themself.beauty is not depend on our physical look.our attitude and the way we speak,we treat other also represent our beauty.

This is my first comment for this semester..i've been ask by my lecturer Miss Noli to post a comment about the topic "Beauty Is Pain'..
so i want to share my opinion here.. for centuries,human keep on trying to be beauty..they will try many ridicoulus thing just to be beauty..that why Corset and Foot binding exist.. for me..
both method are very cruel..because people that make it have to face the pain when used it..for example.. the Corset user have to tie the Corset very tight just to make them look beauty..the user will have a problem in their movement.. it also make the user hard to breath.. Same with Foot binding..the user suffer of pain from the virtual..so that i am strongly agree with the topic 'Beauty Is Pain'.. because today there are still many ridicoulus thing that people done just to look beauty..
Beauty is pain?..In my opinion la,it depands on people himself.The way people create the beauty shows weather it is pianful or not..I'm not agree with the method foot binding because they are trying to modified what God has created.Besides,it is not beautiful at all.Difficult to walk and may caused a death..I don't know why people do such things despite it can kill them..But the another one(corset) is better...^_^

to gain beauty some people has to face pain to gain the beautiness to make he or she happy..especially women nowday has a courage to has surgery to change or make them look beautiful..
corset and foot binding are example in making them more beautiful for old genaration but in this new era people willing to make surgery...it's look same doesn't it?
although it doesn't make sense, it always been choosen by people whose crazy about beautiness.so 'no pain no gain'.
For my opinion if someone wants to become beautiful,then it's up to her what she want to do with her body even though it cause a lot of pain...

As for foot binding well...i'm not sure for my self.Even when i read the article about foot binding,i already feel the pain how my legs if it is been fold up...so i think

i don't agree with the articles.beauty is not everything.the way to look beauty like foot binding is nonsense.way should we get so much pain just 2 attract men?beauty not just in your physical looking but beauty come from inside.without a good heart,beauty is useless.not every men look for physical beauty.for me,women who use any medical or treatment just 2 look beauty is so wasted and the beauty not last long.

Based on our discussion about this topic, I was heard a lot of comments and perception. Sometimes it was influencing me whether to stand with this statement or argue it.
But, here, I would like to stand with my own perception that 'beauty is pain' is a crazy thing for this time being.
Last time ago, maybe to become pretty there is no other choice except 'sacrifice' your body first.
Then, beauty will be produced from that.
Right now, these 'sacrifice' are fusty-believed because beauty treatment or medicine are available at everywhere. Then, people will value that corset and foot binding are unacceptable in this era even some kinds of the medicine will kill your beauty and your life seemly like the effect of corset and foot binding.
On the other view, the reality is the beauty actually comes from inner side, and then it will reflect to the outer side of human. So, treat our own personality and habits first to produce the 'real' beauty.

the notion..'beauty is pain'..hmm..how far they want suffer to become beautiful..just in the eyes of people..why should they choose pain method while there has a best method to become beautiful..in my view.. i totally disagree about that notion..but people has the right to choose whatever method they desire..maybe they think that is the best method for them..actually..every single person that was born is totally complete.. and no doubt about nobody is perfect..but for me..'beauty in the eye of beholder'..

From the two articles that I have read before, I agree that beauty is pain. We have many ways to look beauty without suffer our self. Based on the articled it’s telling us that traditional method to look beauty not suitable to practice anymore. Now day people always improve the technology in medical how to look beautiful. With some advises from doctor people can change their looks to be more beautiful and without pain or suffer.
However in this modern era, beautiful or not can’t insure you to success in life. So always think how to be success person then you finally you think how to looks beauty…

The thought was intriguing, even though I somehow saw it as being shallow. We weren't really talking about beauty any longer, or were we? It seemed as if we were talking about infinite youth. Was beauty tied into youth that strongly? There were those who aged gracefully, and those whose inner beauty managed to shake down the foundations of common misconceptions about beauty. There were young people who were not beautiful at all. These toothless Huns were certainly not beautiful and I doubted any of them were more than thirty years of age. Perhaps youth was wasted on the young, and maybe beauty was wasted on the ignorant, but then again, the ignorant did not really understand beauty. So much pain was involved in this quest for beauty, and I now understood that they were targeting the wrong term. They were missing the point. I felt brilliant in my limited deductive reasoning.

Beauty is pain?... I totally disagree with this statement. For me, beauty is naturally (difference views from difference eyes). Beauty come from inside and not depend on the physical only. Many women nowaday, look the beautiful just at the one side and not for other side. That why they willing to do something dangerous to their self like plastic surgery, botox injection and other. I think, they are many ways for women to look beauty like do the exercise, eat more fruits and vegetable. With this practice, women can enjoy their life (beauty) without pain.

For me,we do not have to hurt and make our self in pain just for become beauty..that is not worth just only to become beauty.Beauty is not only judge to our face and body merely,it is also including our personality and altitude.If someone have a beauty face but his altitude is very bad that is worthless.Corset and foot binding is the old tradition that use the pain to become beauty.For the long time ago,beauty is the important aset for the women and many girl in that era.If they have a beauty face they can easyly married with the rich man and can live in wealthy.But in this milineum era we do not have a beauty face to become success and live in wealthy.Everyone can be success if they have beauty in their side..
FOr the conclusion is we must to appreciate about what we have and must to thankful to ALLAH for giving change to us to live in this wonderful world.

For me beauty become a pain when that person use their beauty not in the right track...
Beauty is one of the great given fron the GOD..
