This is because ours brains take some time extra time to learn or process new thing.Thrus,By doing this ways,i can finish all my works more efficiency, productive and disciplined.

For me time management is very important to avoid us from burning the midnight oil.

We have to plan our schedule and try to divide our time for study and entertainment. I'm not said that I'm not the one of them, but I try my best to avoid it.

For me I will do the revision earlier before the exam. And the very important for me, don't do your work at last minute. It will affect your time especially when the exam is around the corner.

That's how I arranged my time.It is true that burning the midnight oil is not good for student because it will effect our health and our focus in class. So it's very important to avoid it. That's all..

Thanks you..

First in my mind when i'm read the title of this article "why burn the midnight oil?" is related to me because when examination is coming i'm always do revision last minute..huhuhu..For me, i can't study early because i prefer to understand the topic near the examination, it is help me to remember it clearly.
I think, we as a student should have day planner and time management because it is important to us to remember the work that we have to do, so we don't have to work for last minute.Last minute preparation will make the work is not achieve the target. I think we as a student can not run in this problem because of a lot of works that we have to do in the same time. But we can solve this problem by do the day planner..thank you.

Personally, I admit that I am one of the 'last-minutes studying' type of student. This is because I easily forgotten the previous lesson that I already revised even thought I make the exercise several times.

I knew that was a bad habit need to overcome it. For now, I always studied with my friends because for me, that is one of the effective way for studying and also can overcome my last minutes studying problem.

Thank You..

Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to madam Noli Maishara and all friends.I agree with the statement that student nowadays love to burn the midnight oil. We always study at last minute. Actually, study last minute is suitable for those who are great in memorizing. Why we burn the midnight oil? There are many way to avoid our self from burning the midnight oil.

After reading the article, I agree that we need to manage time effectively and plan the day each morning or the night before. I am sure that planner is really important in our life because we need to set the time, when we want to study and when we want to rest. From my opinion, i prefer to choose study at night because I do not have any other important job.

For my personal view, I always jot down all my work in my book so then after i finish do my work, i will thick it. This will make my work easier. I will know which one I have done and which one not. From the article, they suggest finishing the difficult subject first but for me, I need to finish the easier first because it takes less time to finish it. After finish that, I will carry on with the difficult one. Besides that, I don’t like do two works in one time. Finish it one by one.

However, to have a good concentration in study, I need a clean place. So, whenever I want to start my work, I will clean up my place and make it clean and tidy. The other thing is pray before start any work. That is important especially for Muslim.

Assalamualaikum and a very good day to madam Noli and friends.

After I read the article 'why burn the midnight oil?’ I realize that sometimes I'm one of the student that doing last minute studying or completing task. I know that many students also doing that too. I don't think that last minute studying is suitable for all students because some student couldn't catch up the study while them studying in hurry.

I think for my personal views on my plans to avoid myself from burning midnight oil are always do plan what we want to study first and what we have finish the study first. But I can't do the timetable because I don't like to follow the timetable, so that before I started my study, I will plan it what I have to do during the revision.

Next is always doing jot down important points while in class. I also will do the mind mapping while studying because I can't memorize or I can't understand if I didn't do the mind mapping because I love to read notes that have variety of color.

Then, when I want to study more than an hour, I have to do study more than one subject because I can't concentrate with one subject because I will be bored.

I think that’s all for my personal views. I think my friends also got their own style for study. So, I think everyone have their own opinion about this topic.

♥ DO NOT STUDY HARD BUT STUDY SMART!! ♥

Burning the midnight oil on the night before examination is a common problem within students. It will causing students experience blankout during exam due to lack of sleep.
I'm think that for smart student, we need having plan to study, this helps us to divide our time to study besides other activity such as exercise and rest. For human, concentrate on something can't more than 45 minutes at a stretch, time management help us to avoid this situation and bring us continuous our study in a fresh condition. Besides, if you just plan but no take it in action also useless. We must set deadlines for the plan to force us to follow it, this helps to make the plan keep going with time.

Why burn the midnight oil??
In my opinion, proper time management is crucial to prevent burning the midnight oil. Person who tends to burn the midnight oil must be the one always do last minute work. In this case, this leads to high level of stress.
My technique to avoid doing last minute work is to jot down everything that I need to do and set a deadline so that i do not have to burn midnight oil rushing for assignment and test. Then I will categorize all my task based on priority. I will do my task that is very important and must be dealt with before other things. I will also make sure that everything must be done before the deadline that i have set. Therefore, I do all my task everyday to ensure no last minute work. Besides, I also lead a healthy lifestyle by sleeping early at night so that i will feel more fresh on the next day to do my following task.

why student like study last minute?. there are many reasons for it. Student almost blame themselve after they got the result and one more thing they will give reason that they not had enough time to make a revision. it is too late now to say that is our fault. so, what we can do is prepare started from beginning and we can score in the exam.

there are several tip that student can be used to maintain their study from burn the midnite oil. most important thins is student should have manage their time effectively. we spent 24hours perday. not one got extra time for a day. but how the other student can achieve a good result?. I think you got the answer. with good time management, student can be more productive, well organised and disciplined.

Nevetheless, student should have a day planner. But sometime when we had done our planner but it diffuclt to follow. it normal as student, and everyone had experience it. but to make sure we can follow the planner, we need to put some activities. For that time we can enjoy and have fun. so 6P are important for us. By 6P we can make our planner become interesting and easy to follow. 6P here refer to the " Proper Prior planning Prevents Poor Performance".

apart from that we need to consider the difficult first than easy last. this is the best way for us to prepared early. most of students when they got the difficult question for the last minute that will drop their spirit to study but is we put or learn the easy things for last minute we can be more confident to answer the question for examination.

Moreover as I told, we need to set deadlines for everything that we come to do. we totally not to study for 24 hours perday. sometime we need break. For some student they just spent around 4 to 5 hours perday to study but they can achieve a good result. our mind need to break from study. if we push ourself to study but at the same time actually we don't want to study then it will become useless.

In brief, we need to be independent. in case we want to burn the midnight oil the day before exam. so think properly about it!!

warm greetings and good day...

In my opinion, burning midnight oil is trend among the students when it comes to completing assignment, projects and also preparing for quiz, test, final exams. However, this habit may be hazardous to heath as it will affect our biological clock for sleeping during the appropriate hour at night and working during the day. Based on an article that i have read in reader's digest not so long ago, a study was conducted and scientist believe that the best time fir our brain rejuvenate and regain energy is around 12 midnight to 3 am... at that particular time, our brain also produce active brain cells which can enhance long term memory. After a long day of work and play, I'm pretty sure our brain deserve a good and tranquil rest.

As for myself, i try to avoid burning midnight oil by being discipline with myself when it comes to time management. I can't deny that i love being fun-loving and active with outdoors activities or social community works. However, as a student, i always have to bear in mind that my education is my first priority despite all other commitments. Study comes first...then the rest will comes along as i try my best to allocate time for all my other activities.

It's tough to keep up with good grades all the time... In order to be a good student, i believe that to focus in my studies is vital. If I focus well in my studies based on the subject level, it would be so much easier for me to perform my assignment and project as i already have good understanding in that subject. This will boost up my confidence when it comes to sitting for pop quiz and monthly test.

Another method i practice to avoid midnight oil is by revising consistently the subjects which i find rather difficult for myself. With that, I'm able to do more exercises and practices which eventually help me to develop my understanding on that subject.

Last but not least, I also set deadlines for my important education events...for example report submission and preparing for examination. This definitely help me to avoid last minute work and of course to escape from burning midnight oil... =)

Assalamualikum....

I'm disagree with teacher that I 'm not one of them (last minute studying or completing task). I've admit I like to do the task or study at the last minute. But to me, burn the midnight oil is the normal to student. As the degree student, stay up to do the assignment or study is no problem.

Maybe they have reasons why they do the last minute work. As a student, there are too many assignment and task to be completed. So, they have no time to do a new task because the previous task is not complete yet. So, they will do the task that must summit first before the other task.

Last minute studying is also effectively if we know to manage it. Here I've the last minute study tips:

Sleep

* It is important to be well rested. Make sure to get a good night's sleep in the few days before the test.

* If you don't sleep well the night before the test, don't worry about it! It is more important to sleep well two and three nights before. You should still have the energy you need to perform at your best.

Diet

* Don't change your diet right before the test. Now's not the time to try new foods, even if they are healthier. You don't want to find out on test morning that yesterday's energy bar didn't go down well.

* In the few weeks before the test, try to work a light, healthy breakfast into your daily routine. If you already eat breakfast, good for you - don't change a thing.

Stress

* Try to be aware of whatever anxiety you're feeling before test day. The first thing to remember is that this is a natural phenomenon; your body is conditioned to raise the alarm whenever something important is about to happen. However, because you are aware of what your body and mind are doing, you can compensate for it.

* Spend some time each day relaxing. Try to let go of all the pressures that build up during your average day.

* Visualize a successful test day experience. You already know what to expect on test day: when you'll get each test section, how many questions there are, how much time you'll have, etc. You also know where you are strong and where you are weak. Picture yourself confidently answering questions correctly, and smoothly moving past trouble spots - you can come back to those questions later.

* Find a family member or trusted friend with whom you can talk about the things that stress you out about the test. When this person tells you that everything is going to be OK, believe it!

Verbal Questions

* For passage-based questions, first work on detail questions that you can easily locate the answer to. Then move on to inference questions, questions that ask what the author intended, and main idea questions.

* If a question involves a tough vocabulary word, use the surrounding clues in the text to determine what it means.

Writing Questions

* Remember that a few spelling or grammar mistakes are tolerable, but you want to try to eliminate as many of those as you can.

* Try to vary your sentence length and word choice.

* Before you begin to write, spend a few minutes brainstorming ideas and outlining the argument you want to make. Planning will help you to write a well-organized and cohesive essay.

Practice and Review

* Whatever you do, don't cram for the test! It is a bad strategy because you aren't going to remember most of what you "learn" while cramming, and the odds are slim that the few things it will help you to remember will happen to be on the test. Save the energy you would have used to cram for test day.

* In the few days before the test, do a review of the skills and concepts in which you are strong. Be confident as you review everything that you know - and remember that confident feeling as you take the test.

By the way, if we have a time, use it to do a benefits work. To me, as a student, burn the night oil is no problem but it is very good if we can avoid it.

Asslammualaikum to my lovey teacher, madam Noli and to my fellow friends.

Why burn the midnight oil?
For me, as a smart student we should not used our midnight just to study. The wrong thing that we do is last minutes revision. Each human have 24 hours in their life right. So, we suppose to use it correctly. This because, in my opinion when we burn the midnight oil the first thing will affecting is our health. We do not have enough sleep and sometime we will over sleep. As a student, the common thing will happen is do not attend morning class. As a result, the an other problem will occur.

I believe this problem have their own solution. According to the text, day planner and set deadlines are the best method to solve this problem. We must planning our own daily activities to manage our time. As we know that time is gold right..

Furthermore, i want to suggest that as a student we have to be more creative. As an example, we can study in group. So, we can save our time and we also can get more brilliant opinion from our friends than study alone.

Lastly, i want to say that study smart is more effective than study hard.

TQ
~HAVE A NICE DAY~

For my experience, almost every student had done last minutes work experience. It normal for students. No matter to complete homework, assignment, project, quiz, test, and final exam. For those who did last minutes work knew about the stress and experienced blackout during exam due to lack sleep.

There are a few ways to prevent burn the midnight oil.
a) Time management
We have to plan to divide our time for study, rest and entertainment. We as students must concentrate to our studies. After finish studies, we can arrange our rest time for others task. This can help us to make our things easily.

b) Do revision early
Most the student like to do revision at last minutes. This will affect our exam result which we not enough sleep. Then, cannot concentrate during exam. As student we must make short notes and jot down the important point during our lecture lesson. We also must do revision to the subject that we no really understand. We can do more exercises to help us to develop our understanding on that subject.

More important we no encourage to memorizes but we need to understand the concept.
That all from me.

After i read the article, i realize that i am one of them too. I think that is nothing wrong with it. If you like to study at last minute, go ahead.....It our choice.....It's?

I say like that because we have many kind of students nowadays..... Some of them like to study early and others like to study at last minute... Maybe they feel no stress if they study at last minute....As long as the pointer is good, just maintain it!!
BUT...If you feel that study at last minute make you become worst, you need to make a move...

assalamualaikum and good morning to everyone.. I hope you always in a good condition and healthy life..

Ok today about my topic, "why burn the midnight oil?" , we always think about university student. Yes!!.. That's right. Student at university always stay up until 3 to 5 a.m, just to prepare themselves for upcoming exam just a few hour before exam or in another way it said to be last minute study. This style of study will make someone more stress.

No matter I talk bad about this style of study, I still one of the person that using this way to study. I always, make a last minute study because I'm to busy about assignment report presentation, upcoming test, quiz. But I had realize that not only me that have all that thing's to do..

Now after read that article I had realize the way to solve my own problem. Firstly, this article said that we must manage our time carefully. This will make someone more disciplined and well organized. To manage time we need day planner. This plan is to make sure that we set and do our first priority, studying. Settle the difficult first and easier later. After the hard task is settle we will have a lot of satisfaction.

Then set deadline, each work you want to do, you must set deadline to make sure that your work finish on time, and also make your study time is realistic not too long and can be accepted by human brain..

As a conclusion, don't push to hard, just manage your time and don't be stress, insyaALLAH you will achieve your goal to get 3.00 pointer and above..
That's all from me..

Honestly, I'm the one who always practiced last minute study. I believe that most student do the same thing right? Please don't lie to yourselves, hahaha. That's why burn the midnight oil is necessary for me. But I don't think that's the right way to become a successful student. I had feel it and know the result of last minute study and it only make it worth. It's all about time management.
But now, I'm in the process to change my study planning. I must review the lesson on that day when I come back to my hostel. Then, I must focus on what my lecturer teach in class so that the input is more than output.
I hope I will not burn the midnight oil again and again.

Burn midnight oil?
Cramming is one of the worst ways to study for an exam. Try to avoid this by learning great study habits, and also look for ways to make the most out of the last-minutes study sessions. And at the last minutes, there are always too many things to do and too little time. I think the best way to study for test is to start several days or week before the test, so try not to let you get into cramming situation too often.
Day planner is a program designed to help us plan and manage our time. Set deadlines, is to complete things on time. For student, time management is important because we need to do all things in university life.

it's sound strange to me when i ask to give the plan to avoid burning the midnight oil since I am the one who always doing that..but sincerely when you cover your study earlier you will feel much better during the exam because the confidence are there. the most important things beside finish your study is you must get enough rest and you must be calm-hearted. if you are already well prepared, you don't have any problem to overcome your nervous during the day of the exam. for me, i'm not a very hardworking student who always study hard. honestly, since i'm in the secondary school, i hate study but i have one thing that i practice until now which is.. whenever exercise given, i will complete it.. because i believe, if i don't do that, i'm not going to open the book even until tomorrow is the examination. if you try it, you will find that it helps you a little bit. simple practice make you tough on you concept. if you know the concept, your target will be yours...

I am the one which like to study at the last minutes. One of the reason is I am busy with homework and assignment, I only have the chance to study before exam .
The second reason is I don’t have the mood to study because I am lazy. I force myself to study at the last minutes because I have to answer exam question and it is my responsible to get good result .
Althought I said I study at the last minutes , but I don’t think so I am study at the last minutes. I think I am doing revision and do more exercises at the last minutes because all those topic I have study when lecturer taught in class.
This is my study style and some say I am study smart .I think so!!

Well...sorry to say, I am one of those who burn the midnight oil.
So, I don't think I can come out with a good plan to avoid myself from burning midnight oil...
But anyways, I will make a plan too...
Firstly, I have to complete my exercise and assignment as soon as possible, don't keep today's work til tomorrow.
Second, I should spend 1-2 hours everyday to study.
Thirdly, I need a well-planned schedule to make sure I won't miss any appointment or works so that I don't have to rush on last minute.

If I can follow this plan, I am very sure I will not burn the midnight oil...But i think it is not possible...hehe :)

For student, they were usually burn the midnight oil because of they were weak in making schedule. However not all to the student don't know how to amke the time table, but just after they complete their time table their just throw it away.It is nothing different like those pupils who din make a time table. In fact, burn the midnight oil bring more harms to the student indeed they think it will help them. The reason I said this is because after them studying through the whole night, they were exhausted, and then they were hard to concentrate while test, this make them easier to commit error.Besides that, the health of those student who like to burn midnight oil will be at risk too.
So in my suggestion, student should have a time table and should always follow the flow of the time table to avoid being not enough time to study.

well..after that I noticed that what I'm doing is not right..i didn't said ots wrong..huhuhuhu..

from my point of view, we must take our study seriously... if we take our study seriously we automatically thinks that we cannot do something last minute. so we will automatically finish our job early. like me, I didn't like study near the exam because it stress me. I like to play games and hanging out with friends. I focus on my studies in the class so that I can relax my self at hostel or room...

Without an enough preparation, student can't easily take their exam with only limited time to cover the entire topic that has been study. In conclusion, do not burning midnight oil because it is not good for us and its act like a cancer that make the situation become worst.
